Tips and Techniques That Will Enhance your Meditation

  • During your meditations it is important you sit with a straight back and don't slouch. This can be achieved by either:
                 Sitting in a straight back chair with your feet flat on the floor
                 Sitting in a half or full lotus position. Only do this if you are well practiced and find it comfortable.
                 Sitting on a proper meditation stool or cushion
  • Listen to the guided meditation on your mp3 using stereo headphones. Your guided meditation and instructions are all on here. Or read the meditations page and follow the technique that feels most comfortable for you.
  • Where loose comfortable clothing

  • Have a blanket handy in case you get cold
  • If you start thinking or get distracted allow the thought to drift away like a cloud and bring your focus back to the voice on the sound track or chosen technique.
  • To start with meditate at the same time of day and in the same place. This way it becomes a discipline, then a routine and then a habit making it less likely that you’ll give up.
  • Make sure you won’t be disturbed during your meditation. Turn the phone off and tell anyone in the house not to interupt you. When you are in any meditative state a sudden noise can be a real shock.
  • End your meditation with a few minutes of silence easing yourself back into a waking beta state. If you rush back in too quickly you may get a headache.
  • Don’t jump up too quickly at the end. Get up slowly and have a glass of water.
