Hindu Mantra

In the Beginning was the Word
Om (Aum) Mantra MeditationIn the beginning was the word, and in Hindusim that word was Om or Aum. Om as a symbol represents the absolute, the source of all manifest existence or Brahman and is the very heart of both the Hindu and Buddhist spiritual paths. However it is more than just a symbol. It is a vibration that transcends any religion, representing the core energy of the creative aspect of the universal consciousness - the sound of the universe as all matter came into existence.
Om is therefore the ultimate seed mantra and used regularly in your meditations will enhance your spiritual growth enormously connecting you to the source of all manifestaion. By intoning Om correctly the sound will resonate through your whole body at a cellular level so you literally vibrate with the energy of God penetrating through to your soul. As you enter into a meditative trance-like state nothing around you will exist, you'll become one with pure consciousness, one with the infinite self.
Om is pronounced ome (rhyming with home) but when intoned or chanted you bring out the syllables aa, au mm. It feels like you are rolling the word round your mouth.
The Meditation
Sit comfortably with your back straight either siting in a chair or in the lotus position. Take three deep breaths and chant AUM for about twenty minutes and then just sit in the silence. To start with listen to the mp3 and join in with the chant.
